One of the most popular services I provide is makeup for bridal parties, big and small. I love working with couples on their big day and I consider it truly an honor to be a part of someone's day. Below are some frequently asked questions I've received over the years and wanted to put them all in one place. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions (or wish to know about ones specified below)!
Do you offer on- location services for special events or only weddings?
Yes, I offer light hair and makeup services for any special event you have!
I will come to your location on any day of the week.
How soon do I need to book my wedding makeup?
I can’t hold a date without a contract and deposit. The sooner you know your date, the better. On average, I book about six months to one year out, however there are dates more popular than others (peak season is May-October). Also note that COVID-19 has elevated the amount of inquiries coming in so MANY popular dates may book out 1.5-2 years out.
Once you have secured a venue and date, I advise that you should book hair and makeup shortly after.
I have a large party - are you able to accomodate?
Yes- with a network of extremely skilled makeup artists, I am able to build a team of as many artists as needed to accomodate your party and will be in charge of paying them out.
Do you have a minimum for on-location services?
Yes, I do have a minimum for all of our on-location services of the bride plus two people, however I can accomodate the bride only if requested- additional fees will apply.
Do you travel?
Yes! I travel all over! I am based in the greater Boston area/RI and travel by car, plane and boat (I've taken several over the years!). Travel and accomodation fees may apply based on distance.
Why should I hire a you, a professional makeup artist for my big day?
There are quite a few reasons (another post for another day) but here are my top three:
#1: Weddings, no matter how big or small, are an investment. One of those investments may be towards a photographer you've been admiring on social media for years. You invest in a great photograher to capture one of the most important day of your life, right? Why not look like your best self in them?
# 2: You will be busy on your wedding day, however, you deserve to enjoy it, even the morning of. You will have a lot of moving parts and people- you've dedicated a lot of time planning this day- you, yes YOU, deserve to be pampered. You deserve to sit back, relax, and have others do things for you. ((Side note: personally, as a former bride myself, one of the best things I did (besides hire my own hair and makeup team) was to get a professional massage the day before my wedding. I needed to relax and feel pampered, and I will tell you- I was cool as a cucumber on my wedding day)). My #1 goal is to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and beautiful on your day.
#3: Professional makeup artists know what works and doesn't work in front of the camera- they also know how to work with all skin types and tones. Event makeup is very different than your everyday makeup- I have to ensure its sweat-proof, kiss-proof, smudge-proof, hug-proof, etc. With over 10 years of experience, I've tested and tried thousands of professional products and know what works with specific skin types, tones, etc. and what is long wearing. As a licensed esthetician, I know how to approach skin and how to apply the correct products to any skin type.
Do you do trial runs?
Yes! I highly recommend a trial-run or bridal preview and don't mind if you want to "try before you buy" to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your makeup before you sign a contract (disclaimer- the only way to lock in your event date is with a fully executed contract and 50% retainer). The trial takes about 2 hours and allows us to work together to develop your desired look. I also ask that, if possible, you wear the look throughout the day. I recommend you book a trial 6 months prior to your event date.
Where do trial runs take place?
As an on-location makeup artist, I can come to you for the trial! If that doesn't work, I provide trials in North Reading, MA.
Can I bring a guest to my trial?
Due to COVID-19 regulations and out of extra caution,I ask that you bring only one guest to the trial and I ask that they remained masked for the entire duration of the trial. I also ask that if we do a trial in your home, that everyone in the house be masked for the duration of the trial.
How long does it take per person for makeup on the wedding day?
45 minutes per service. More complex looks (or looks with lashes) could take one hour minutes. Bride usually takes one hour, fifteen minutes. 10-15 minutes are needed in between attendants to disinfect and prepare for the next appointment.
What type of makeup do you use?
I carry a variety of professional and high-end luxury brands. All of the products in our kit are paraben-free, hypo-allergenic and suitable for sensitive skin.
Have an allergy? Just let us know.
Is your kit sanitary?
Sanitation is my #1 priority!I use freshly cleaned brushes and new disposables on each member of the bridal party. I wash my hands and keep my metal tools clean with alcohol spray. The team and I also wear a mask the entire time we are in attendance and santize each station in between attendants. Everyone's safety is our priority.
Are you able to cover tattoos?
Yes! Absolutely. I am an expert at tattoo coverage and waterproofing your tattoo coverage. If you have a tattoo that needs to be covered, please email a photo of the tattoo you would like to cover and I can quote accordingly.
Please note that proper tattoo coverage can take as much time as an entire face,
sometimes longer if the area you want covered is large. Tattoo coverage fees apply.
Do you offer makeup for enagement photos?
Yes, absolutely! Please Note: Saturday appointments are usually not available during the high season (May-October) due to our on-location wedding services. Let me know and I will do our best to work with your schedule.
